"Explication" comes from "explicate". This verb has to do with the unfolding of a process. The process of this piece does involve a basic melody, however it also involves a refreshing chord progression that encompasses the piece's emotional contour. The slow intro draws one's ear in, as tension is released at the inception of the chords. The rhythmic motif at the new and bright tempo drives the piece under the melody. This journey to the returning slow section is fun for every performer and conductor. The ending slow section contains the fully realized idea of the main chords. We end together with a warm Eb Maj. 7 chord. Please enjoy, "Explication".
