Adrift is a sax quartet with much variety. Sometimes it's smooth and slow; sometimes it's very rapid and energetic. It has slap tongue effects and growls along with funky and Jazzy rhythms. First, Adrift starts off with a slow and somber mood. All saxes soon contribute to challenging rhythms and Jazzy figures. A shocking growl takes the piece to a fast, intrepid ride. This piece approaches the end by bringing back some effects, the first Alto Sax leads the ensemble to a powerful punch of an ending with a fluid, soloistic figure.
