This work is the piano version of opus 1, Sextet, but actually first conceived in 2016 (for Piano). This version is also revised from the original and offers flexibility of timing and interpretation. This piece is special because it is inspired by two different eras/composers that I enjoy : Romantic Beethoven-like music, especially Sonata No.8, Opus 13; as well as Steve Reich's minimalism. Obviously these are completely different interpretations of music but I thoroughly enjoy both and decided to juxtapose them in the same piece, giving them my own flavor. One can think of this piece as A-B-C-A'. What connects these sections is a sense of groove, especially the B section. Even though B grooves harder than the others, they nonetheless have their own groove which is fun for both the performer and listener.
